Relieved to slip away from a sextile to Saturn - truly the Lord of Seasoned Cynics - Luna, weary of spinning webs of worry about ticks and spiders, finally throws in the towel and surrenders to the present moment. Needing a break from doom-scrolling through the galactic newsfeed, she rolls into a lush flowerbed guarded by two angels of sweet benevolence, Venus and Jupiter. Daintily enveloped by their heavenly perfume, Luna’s senses eagerly absorb the sublime symphony of Taurean woodland and magical meadows. Braiding a crown of daisies, she starts singing, and the fertile soil beneath her feet hums along.
This New Moon moment truly is a present. Will you accept Luna’s invitation to join the club of simple-living enthusiasts? There's no rush, no pressure to be anywhere or anywhen but here and now. While a new lunar cycle typically heralds fresh starts, this Taurean prelude is about cherishing what is already there and nurturing it with generous doses of love and care.
Basking in the sunlight and beaming with gratitude, Luna knows that everything is “just right”. Rather than abundance and excess expressed by euphoric “oohs” and “aahs,” the five-planet party in Taurus calls for a solid portion of good old Epicurean hedonism. True happiness lies in the simplicity of our Venusian desires. Jupiter lets us cultivate our friendships while Uranus peppers our conversations with his mind-boggling intellectual pursuits. It’s a supportive – yes, a downright delightful - mix that composes a song about long-lasting joie-de-vivre, the greatest richness of all.
Embedded in the bound of Jupiter, this New Moon anticipates the renewal of Jupiter’s synodic cycle. The sextile to the god of endings, Saturn, appears to echo Jupiter’s last chorus. Luna, an exalted guest in the Bull’s realm, lovingly assists old Zeus to prepare him for the gentle death and rebirth that awaits him on May 18th when the Sun conjoins him at the 29th degree of Taurus.
Approaching life with innocent enthusiasm, baby Zeus will roll out a re-Jovenated perspective that will undoubtedly broaden our horizon. Extending this chapter throughout his pending journey in the Twin’s realm, he won’t meet the Sun again until his ingress into Cancer in June 2025.
Entertained by, and sometimes wrestling with Mercury’s playful adventures and vibrant variability, Jupiter won’t know what to launch into first. We might have trouble finding our steady voice and self-confidence. Our hopes and dreams are likely to morph in and out of existence in Mercury’s laboratory. Our beliefs, shamelessly stripped naked and dispersed over petri dishes and test tubes, will be meticulously examined and re-engineered.
Nothing, however, can stop Jupiter from searching for something to believe in. Whether he can hit targets he’s aiming for, remains to be seen. A lot depends on our ability to adapt to ever-changing conditions and the choices we make amidst uncertainty.
I am not a nonbeliever, but a man who demands something worth believing in. - Ernst Jünger (as Jupiter in Gemini it can get!)
